Breast Cancer Awareness Month

WHEREAS, Breast Cancer is the most common form of cancer in women in the United States; and

WHEREAS, New Jersey has the dubious distinction of consistently ranking in the top ten states in the nation for breast cancer incidence and mortality; and

WHEREAS, early detection, routine screening, regular mammograms can substantially reduce the chance of death from breast cancer; and

WHEREAS, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to increasing awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer with special educational efforts

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Hunterdon does hereby recognize October, 2000 as BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH in the County of Hunterdon; and

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED, that the Hunterdon County Board of Chosen Freeholders urges all County residents to take advantage of the information available to learn all they can about this terrible disease and support programs and initiatives for early detection, treatment and research.
