Effective July 1, 2010 the Hunterdon County Youth Facility will be closed and cease operations pursuant to the Board of Chosen Freeholders resolution dated June 15, 2010.
As of July 1, 2010, Hunterdon County will have access to shelter care services through an agreement with the County of Morris, and/or other neighboring shelter care services.
Hunterdon Juveniles in need of shelter care will continue to be referred through the Hunterdon Family Court/Family Crisis Intervention Unit. The Family Crisis Intervention Unit is part of Hunterdon Behavioral Health, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, and can be accessed by calling (908) 788-6401, or by calling the Crisis Line at (908) 788-6400.
The Hunterdon County Department of Human Services, and its Juvenile Justice Planner, will provide oversight and monitor daily census of all out-of-county youth shelter placements, and serve as liaison between the Hunterdon Family Court, Family Crisis Intervention Unit and out-of-county host youth shelters.
