To be eligible, you must be a veteran who received an honorable discharge (or a service-incurred injury or disability) and served at least 90 days of active duty during one of the following time periods:
Veteran status for the Lebanon Crisis; the Grenada Peacekeeping Mission; the Lebanon Peacekeeping Mission; the Panama Peacekeeping Mission; Operation Desert Shield/Storm; Operation Restore Hope in Somalia; Operation Joint Endeavor/Joint Guard in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Operation Enduring Freedom; and Operation Iraqi Freedom requires that the member served in the country/region or on ships patrolling the territorial waters of these nations for at least 14 days. Service with the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) or Women's Army Corps (WAC) qualifies for veterans status. Copies of either Service Record; or Report of Separation (DD Form 214); or Honorable discharge must be submitted with the application. Applications are available at the County Administration office, 71 Main Street, 1st Floor, Flemington, New Jersey 08822. (directions) Office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Or you can request an application be mailed to you by call 908-788-1102. Family members may apply on behalf of a deceased relative or a relative who is presently on active duty of the area. Veterans must either be a current Hunterdon County resident or have resided in Hunterdon County at the time of their military service. |
