Recognizing the 25th Anniversary of Senior Health Services

WHEREAS, Senior Health Services of the County of Hunterdon was the vision and creation of Mary Housel, RN, twenty-five years ago, in 1977; and

WHEREAS, the goal of Senior Health Services is to reach out to persons who do not regularly visit a physician and make them aware of the health risk factors for their age group, since early diagnosis followed by early treatment by a physician is beneficial to the patient; and

WHEREAS, Senior Health Services fitness goal is to help people stay "fit" for daily living as long as possible and good health habits and good fitness habits are essential and can be made fun; and

WHEREAS, the first Project Director of Senior Health Services, L. Claire Grissett, still holds that position today; and

WHEREAS, highly qualified physicians, specialists and trained volunteers are at all programs provided, making the services of a very high caliber, and these volunteers log in nearly 2500 hours a year; and

WHEREAS, Senior Health Services programs are made available by the Hunterdon County Health Department through the Area Agency on Aging for the County of Hunterdon; and

WHEREAS, financial support is provided by the Hunterdon County Board of Chosen Freeholders, various grants, contributions from some municipalities, participant donations, and several organizations and businesses; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Hunterdon hereby recognizes Senior Health Services on their 25th Anniversary to be celebrated on June 08, 2002; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Hunterdon County Board of Chosen Freeholders acknowledges the dedication of the professional and trained volunteers who give so generously of their time and expertise.
