Child I.D. Program
By Law, the Sheriff's Office is mandated to provide a child fingerprint program. The Hunterdon County Sheriff's Office has developed the Child I.D. Program in order to comply with this. This community service program provides a fingerprint, color photograph, dental charting and personal information, which is placed in a laminated card and given to the child's parent or guardian. In the event of an emergency situation, this card may be presented to any law enforcement personnel to aid in the recovery of a lost child.
The office also distributes a Missing Persons Booklet containing prevention information and a check list for parents to utilize in the event of a missing child. To date, the current Administration has processed over 6,400 children at various locations throughout Hunterdon County. All children receive a Junior Sheriff's Deputy ID Badge when they participate in this program.
