The Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office Fugitive Unit is comprised of a Sergeant whose primary responsibilities is to locate and apprehend wanted fugitives.
This unit is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Fugitive Unit travels throughout various jurisdictions within New Jersey and outside state boundaries to pursue felons wanted for various criminal offenses, violation of parole and failure to comply with bail tracking. These efforts require extensive cooperation between the fugitive unit and law enforcement agencies from local, state and federal sectors. See our Most Wanted List.

The Internal Affairs Unit of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office is charged with the responsibility to conduct all internal investigations within the prosecutor’s office. These investigations might include complaints against detectives, legal staff or support staff of this office.
The unit also oversees all internal affairs investigations from each of the county’s 26 municipal police departments and sheriff’s department. Additionally, the unit works cooperatively with local internal affairs officers in cases where serious allegations of improper conduct are alleged against local police. The Internal Affairs Unit also conducts independent investigations countywide.
The Major Crimes Unit of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office is comprised of nine detectives that combined have many years of experience. The Major Crime’s Unit is responsible for investigating all homicides, suicides, and suspicious deaths within the county of Hunterdon. In addition the unit is responsible for reviewing all unattended deaths which occur throughout the county. The Major Crimes Unit also assists the twenty-one municipalities within the county in investigating aggravated assaults, armed robberies, burglaries and thefts on a case by case basis. The Major Crimes Unit is also assigned the responsibility of investigating all arsons and suspicious fires in Hunterdon County. We offer the local municipalities the expertise of our trained detectives.

With the approval of a federal grant offered through the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety we employ fully trained and qualified experts in the field of accident investigation and reconstruction. In addition, advanced training in the field of accident investigation is provided to members of the Major Crimes Unit and local police. The purpose of this task force is to investigate motor vehicle accidents involving death or serious bodily injury, which may reasonably, result in death. This task force will also investigate accidents involving serious bodily injury when a driver is believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while operating a motor vehicle. SEX CRIME AND CHIILD ABUSE UNIT
The Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit is responsible for investigating and prosecuting cases arising from incidents of sexual and physical abuse of children. The unit is also responsible for providing assistance to municipal police departments in sexual assault cases involving adult victims. All investigations are coordinated with municipal police agencies and the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services. The unit maintains a twenty-four hour, three hundred sixty five days a year on call schedule to handle sexually or physically abused children. Obtaining proper treatment for the victim is a priority along with doing a comprehensive and thorough investigation.
Our child interview rooms have been designed to put young victims at ease. The rooms are equipped with video monitoring system so other interested parties, i.e., social workers, who have their own investigative needs, can monitor the interviews of children. This eliminates the need for multiple interviews and it also reduces the number of people who are in the room with the victim during the interview.

The Narcotics Task Force has a mandate from the Prosecutor to identify, investigate and apprehend violators of New Jersey’s Narcotic, Gambling and Racketeering laws. The Task Force utilizes a variety of investigative techniques to accomplish its mission. Some of these techniques include undercover and surface interventions physical and electronic surveillance; search warrant executions; and numerous information gathering strategies.
The Task Force consists of full-time detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office as well as police officers assigned by municipal departments and County Sheriff on a rotating basis.
The Narcotics Task Force works collaboratively with all law enforcement agencies within Hunterdon County. The Hunterdon County Prosecutors Office has a 24-hour anonymous tips line for any illegal activity. The number is 908-782-DRUG (3784)

The High Tech Crimes Unit is comprised of a Detective from the Prosecutors Office. The members of this Unit conduct investigations in which computers, telecommunications equipment or other advanced technology is used to facilitate a criminal act or are the objects of the attack. Unit personnel provide investigative and technical assistance to law enforcement agencies, throughout the Hunterdon County area. We also examine seized computers for evidence of criminal activity. Our office works in conjunction with the NJSP High tech Crimes unit located at Division Headquarters located in Trenton NJ.

LEGAL DIVISION- Investigation Section
Experienced assistant prosecutors are assigned to provide legal advise to each of these Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office investigative sections: Major Crimes, Sex Crimes and Family Protection, Special Investigations, and the Narcotics Task Force. The purpose is to provide consistent legal advice to the investigations from the initiation through disposition. The goal is to create high quality criminal cases to insure that justice is done.
