IMPLEMENT THE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY (CEDS) : The Planning Services Division is working on the implementation of the County Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) report which was approved by the U.S. Economic Development Authority (EDA) in May 2015. The CEDS report provides a road map to guide Economic Development projects within Hunterdon County.
ADMINISTER THE COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL FARMLAND PROGRAM: We helped to facilitate the preservation of 385 farms and over 30,000 acres of farmland! Since 1985, Hunterdon County has contributed just over $40 million and leveraged more than $186 million in State funding for our farmland preservation efforts. The County Agricultural Development Board (CADB) evaluates and reviews all applications for farmland preservation and makes formal recommendations to the Freeholder Board for County funding.
ADMINISTER THE HUNTERDON COUNTY OPEN SPACE TRUST PROGRAM: From 2000 to 2015, the Open Space tax receipts exceed $97 million with more than $78 million of this funding leveraged to preserve farmland and open space and to fund historic preservation projects within our County.
ADMINISTER THE OPEN SPACE GRANT PROGRAMS: Nearly 8,500 acres of open space have been preserved within the County using our open space funding and our local partners. The Parks and Open Space Advisory Committee (POSAC) reviews all municipal, non-profit, cooperative and historic preservation applications and makes formal recommendations to the Freeholder Board for County funding.
SUPPORT THE COUNTY’S TRANSPORTATION ROLE AT NJTPA: Hunterdon County is a member of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the13-county northern New Jersey region. The NJTPA oversees more than $2 billion in transportation improvement projects and provides a forum for interagency cooperation and public input into funding decisions.
