In 2003 the Hunterdon County Planning Board scheduled a series of regional meetings with local officials from contiguous municipalities to discuss three very critical and timely issues: Recommended revisions to the current State Plan Policy Map; the New Jersey DEP BIG Map; and the County’s Growth Management Plan, currently under preparation through its Smart Growth Planning Program. Local officials had the opportunity to revisit the State Plan Policy Map and suggest changes to Planning Areas and other features, respond to forthcoming changes to the BIG Map, and respond to the findings and recommendations emerging from the County’s Smart Growth Planning Program. Meetings scheduled for the month of June were as follows:

  • Region 1: Bethlehem, Bloomsbury, Glen Gardner, Hampton
    Monday, September 15th at 7:00 PM, Bethlehem Twp Municipal Building, Mine Road
  • Region 2: Califon, Lebanon Twp, Tewksbury
    Thursday, September 11th at 7:00 PM, Lebanon Twp Municipal Building, West Hill Road
  • Region 3: Alexandria, Frenchtown, Holland, Kingwood, Milford
    Tuesday, September 23rd at 7:00 PM, Kingwood Twp Municipal Building, County Route 519, Baptistown
  • Region 4: Flemington, Raritan, Readington
    Wednesday, September 3rd at 7:00 PM, Freeholder Meeting Room, Route 12 County Complex, Raritan Twp
  • Region 5: Clinton Town, Clinton Twp, Franklin, High Bridge, Lebanon Boro, Union
    Tuesday, September 16th at 7:00 PM, Clinton Twp Municipal Building, Route 31 North
  • Region 6: Delaware, East Amwell, Lambertville, Stockton, West Amwell
    Thursday, September 18th at 7:00 PM, West Amwell Twp Municipal Building, 150 Rocktown-Lambertville Road

Meeting Agenda

  1. Continue review/revisions to State Plan Policy Map (20 minutes)
    1. Confirm Planning Areas
    2. Environmentally sensitive criteria that do no amass into one square mile or larger become critical environmental sites; identify other CES?
    3. Historic & cultural sites to be identified?
  2. Review population projections (15 minutes)
    1. Discuss methodology
    2. Discuss any requests for adjustments
    3. Determine information that must be provided to County to support any requested adjustments
    4. Reach consensus on projections
  3. Announce November 1 program and what follows
    1. Share survey results
    2. Present build out analysis (based on projected population growth plus nonresidential growth)
    3. Revise our vision statement
    4. Revise our goals
    5. Respond to suggested strategies
  4. Announce agenda for regional meetings following November 1 meeting
    1. Assess alternative development scenarios based on zoning build out analysis - use State Plan map as basis
