PUBLIC QUESTION #1
Length of Service Award for the Sergeantsville Volunteer
Fire Company Members.
Explanatory Statement: The Township of Delaware has determined to create a Length of Service Awards Program (LOSAP) to benefit eligible members of the Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company, all of whom are volunteers who serve the residents of Delaware Township. The Township Committee of the Township of Delaware has determined that the creation of a LOSAP will enhance the ability of the Township to recruit and retain volunteer fire members. It is estimated that the LOSAP would cost the Township $40,250.00 in the first year (2004) of its operation. Members of the Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company would earn points for organization-related activities and would qualify for an annual contribution upon earning 60 points per year. Details of the point system and other details of the ordinance adopted by the Township Committee are contained in the ordinance which is available for public inspection, along with a copy of the State statue enabling municipalities to establish LOSAP programs. Said ordinance and State statue may be inspected in the Municipal building at the corner of County Route 604 and County Route 523 between the hours 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Mondays through Fridays, holidays excepted.
