Vernal Pool.  A vernal pool in the corner of one field provides unique habitat for the park’s amphibians.  A vernal pool contains water in the winter and spring, but dries up in the summer months.  This excludes year-round aquatic predators, like fish and bullfrog tadpoles, giving salamander and frog larvae the chance to grow up into adulthood.
