Orb Weaver Spider (Araneus spp). These spiders are often 1/2" long and brightly colored yellow and black, or red and yellow. Females are usually larger than males. Most of them spin an orb web characterized by expanding circles of sticky silk thread hung from support lines that meet at a central point. Many orb spiders build new webs each night, often attaching the webs to branches and leaves of vegetation. CLICK IMAGE FOR LARGER VIEW
