back Tulip Poplar Bark Next

Tulip Poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) Bark.  The bark of the tulip poplar is generally a light gray-green in color, often with white in grooves or in patches.  It is smooth when the tree is young, and develops flat-topped ridges and furrows in diamond-shaped patterns.  On older trees sapsucker holes (horizontal lines of holes from woodpeckers) are common.
