Pigskin Poison Puffball (Scleroderma citrinum).  Pigskin Poison Puffballs are warted, thick-skinned, yellow-brown balls, which open by pores at the top to release spores.  The season for these puffballs is July through November, and they can be found in groups or by themselves on the ground, on wood debris, near trees, or in woods and sandy soil.  They are widely distributed throughout North America (Lincoff & Nehring 839).
