Lady Fern (Athyrium filix-femina).  Lady fern is a deciduous, perennial fern which is often used for decoration.  It likes shaded areas, and can be found growing in meadows, moist woods, open thickets, and along stream beds.  “The origin of the plant's name is said to come from its reproductive structures, borne inconspicuously along the leaf margin and are concealed in a manner deemed female’ ” (Jim Bishop).
