Male House Finch (Carpodacus mexicanus).  The House Finch is a western transplant that has spread across much of the eastern United States with the aid of feeders.  It is often confused with the Purple Finch.  Male House Finches may be distinguished by dark stripes on their sides and bellies, while females have a much blander looking face.
