back Witch Hazel Pod Next

Witch Hazel Pod (Hamamelis virginiana). Witch Hazel is a small tree or shrub with wavy-toothed, uneven-based leaves. From September to November, it flowers with narrow yellow petals, and the fruit appears from August through October. In late autumn, the old fruit pods will pop open and their seeds can be sent up to 20' away (Petrides & Wehr 306-7).
