back Alsike Clover Next

Alsike Clover (Trifolium hybridum). This European introduction has white-pink pea flowers which turn brown and papery with age. It is found throughout much of North America, primarily in old fields, lawns, and roadsides. It is often used in crop rotation and planted to improve soil fertility, as it stores nitrogen in its root nodules. (Niering & Olmstead 548).
