The Cushetunk Mountain Ridge. This ridge is a ring of mountains formed by volcanic activity over 160 million years ago. Since high concentrations of Diabase rock made the land unsuitable for farming, attention was focused on timber and logging practices. The elevation of the mountains average 830' above sea level.
