Back PEARL CRESCENT BUTTERFLY  

Pearl Crescent (Phyciodes tharos). These butterflies are found throughout Hunterdon County and like open areas, fields, meadows, power-line cuts, and suburbia. Their major foodplant is aster. This butterfly is "probably our commonest Nymphalid" (Glassberg 54).
