Pignut Hickory Tree (Carya glabra). "Pignut Hickory is a common medium-large tree of upland forests. The leaves usually are glabrous [smooth] and have five leaflets. They are spicily fragrant" (cwcook). The bark tends to have close interlacing ridges and is gray/brown in color. (Lisa Samuelson).
