back to index Black Locust Tree back to index

Black Locust Tree (Robinia pseudoacacia). The Black Locust is a cousin to the Honey Locust, however the 'spikes' on its branches are much smaller than the Honey Locust. The spikes/spines are also paired at each leaf. The leaves are oval-shaped, and the leaflets are alternate, pinnately compounded with 7-19 leaflets (VT Forestry Dept).
