Fox Grape (Vitis labrusca). Fox grape is the ancestor of all grapes. It is a woody vine that can climb to over thirty feet tall and is found in open woods, pond edges, streambanks, and roadsides. Its fruit is very important as a foodsource for wildlife, and the grapes can be used to make juice, jams, jellies, preservatives, and even pies and pastries (Nature Hills Nursery, Inc.).
