Douglas-Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) Cone. The story goes that a mouse lived in a forest who was very scared of a sly fox. The mouse avoided the fox, but one day was caught unaware and began to run, looking for something to hide in. He spied the cone and thought he could fit so he jumped in. He was hidden well enough from the fox, but he did not fit completely, and to this day you can see his hind legs and tail in the Douglas-fir cone as he still hides from the fox.
