Ebony Jewelwing (Calopteryx maculata) male.Damselflies, like this one, are different from dragonflies in the way they hold their wings when they are at rest. Dragonflies hold their wings to their sides, while damselflies hold their wings above their body. Jewelwings will grow up to two inches long. This is a male, which is larger than the female and has a big black head, green body, and black wings. The female has black wings, but a lighter body with a white spot on its wings (FCPS).
