Sweetgum Tree (Liquidambar styraciflua)This tree can be easily be recognized by its leaves (up to seven inches across) which have either five or seven, pointed lobes with fine-toothed edges. If you shave the bark and get to the softwood of this tree, it has a sweet taste which was used for chewing gum and medicine.
