Moth Mullein. Moth mullein (Verbascum blattaria) is so named because the hairy stamens of the flowers resemble a moth’s antennae.  It is a biennial plant that produces a slender spike of yellow flowers in June through October of its second year.  The seed capsules persist through the winter.
