Praying Mantis egg case. A Praying Mantis (family Mantidae) egg case on a plant.  Female praying mantises lay their eggs in a foamy substance that hardens into a Styrofoam-like egg case.  The egg case persists throughout the winter, and in the spring, about 200 praying mantis nymphs will hatch. CLICK IMAGE FOR LARGER VIEW
