Wounded Warrior MemorialABOUT THE COURT STREET PARK

Back in 1901, this park was an unattractive lot that was used as a dumping ground for rubbish and a storage place for old wagons. Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Temple, then the president of the Flemington Woman’s Club, organized a Village Improvement Committee. This committee obtained support from several local businesses and community organizations to improve the site into a community park. Work began in 1902.

Trees, benches, and other material to beautify the area were all donated to the project. The bandstand was moved to the center of the park from a nearby site. It was vandalized in 1973 and was completely rebuilt in the following years. The Flemington Woman’s Club still meets in the building adjacent to the park.

The park features a memorial honoring combat wounded veterans along the Court Street edge. Also, a Freedom Pole (donated by a local Girl Scout troop) is displayed at the entrance. A sundial along one walkway displays the date instead of the time.

RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES The park facilities can be used for private and public affairs, from photo sessions and ceremonies to corporate events. For more information or to make a reservation visit or call the Arboretum. You can also visit our website to download a facility use permit application.

With the exception of park properties with reservable facilities, all properties are “carry in / carry out” and trash/recycling receptacles are not provided.  Please plan accordingly and do not leave any trash/recyclables behind.
