The state funded PERSONAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES
PROGRAM provides assistants care for permanently physically disabled
clients to assist them to:
- Support Community-Based Independent Living
- Participate in Job Training and/or Educational Advancement
- Maintain or Secure Employment
Individuals who are:
- Permanently Physically Disabled
- Hunterdon County Residents Living in a Community-Based
Residence
- Ages 18 to 65
- Capable of Self-Direction and Able to Supervise a Personal
Assistant
| What
Services do Assistants Provide? |
Up to 40 hours per week of routine non-medical services
based on their individual circumstances, such as:
- Transportation
- Laundry
- Personal Care (bathing, dressing, etc.)
- Household Management
- Meal Preparation
- Chores and Errands
- Transfer to a Wheelchair
These services do not replace, but may supplement those
provided by other subsidized programs, for example, Medicaid.
- The program is free to Hunterdon County Residents who
qualify under the Social Services Block Grant guidelines.
- Those with incomes above the current guidelines ($15,162
for a single person), are required to contribute to the cost of service on
a nominal sliding-fee scale.

of Social Services at (908) 788-1300 and ask for the PASP Coordinator.
Eligible applicants will:
- Receive a professional assessment conducted
to determine the person's capacity for self direction and appropriateness
of the service plan in emeting the consumer's needs.
- Need to complete application materials including:
- Physician's Certificate
- Income Declaration
- Plan of Services
to Specify the type of service required and hours requested is completed
by the consumer.
