Additional Grants Available:

 

The New Jersey Historical Commission is a state agency within the New Jersey Department of State dedicated to the advancement of public knowledge and preservation of New Jersey history. All of its grant funding is provided by legislative appropriation. 

The New Jersey Historical Commission offers a variety of different types of grants to support a variety of programs and activities related to New Jersey history, including General Operating Support Grants, Project Grants and Mini-grants. It also offers prizes and free archival evaluation services through the Caucus Archival Projects Evaluation Service or CAPES.   

The grants and prizes program (along with reporting requirements for grant recipients) is described in booklets available for downloading in MS Word or PDF format on the Historical Commission website:  www.nj.gov/state/divisions/historical/grants/

Grant Application Process
The New Jersey Historical Commission now requires that applicants submit a Declaration of Intent online prior to submitting an application. Declaration on Intent and Applications must be filed electronically using the System for Administering Grants Electronically (SAGE).  New and returning applicants may file their Declaration of Intent by visiting the SAGE website at http://sage.nj.gov. County and municipality applicants should use the website https://njdcasage.state.nj.us.   Instructions for registering can be found in section four (“Gaining access to SAGE”) of the SAGE User Guide.  If you are having any difficulties registering for SAGE, please contact the New Jersey Historical Commission immediately at 609-292-6062.
