Joanne is a member and award winning artist in the Garden State Watercolor Society, Hunterdon Watercolor Society (President) and the NJ Art Educators. Her work covers a broad spectrum from everyday objects, country side view, events, people and animals. She creates unique compositions from found objects and her imagination. Her work is full of rich color, vibrancy and interesting vantage points. Color and composition are strong elements in her work.

She has taught K - through adult for over 21 years ad presented her innovative ideas at the state conference and had work published in several publications. Interests include - teaching, demos, workshops and judging.

In the studio Carter works abstractly. As a daily practice she works from life, drawing with ink and watercolor,often studies of botanicals. Carter's workshops focus on careful observation of the Natural World as patterns and geometric forms to express underlying similarities clothed in unique personalities. Lessons are taught by playing Art Games that incorporate lessons in Color, Design, Value and Creative Techniques.

Her Street Smart Geometry Project integrates Art, Science, and Math by creating polyhedra and mandalas in publics paces.

Watercolor Art: She is a realistic painter and enjoys doing scenes of the rural surrounding area. Since its inception, Irma has contributed posters annually for the Shad Poster auction which in turn has provided scholarships for students in both Lambertville and New Hope.

Her paintings have gained acceptance in juried art shows such as: Coryell Gallery, Garden State Watercolor Society, Philllips Mill, Hunterdon Art Center and Artsbridge at Prallsville Mills.

She has won many awards including the Andrea Morrison award for Best in Show in the Hunterdon Watercolor Society Show, the NJ Chapter of American Artists League Award, and First place in the state for senior artists.

She is also included in many private collections throughout the United States, including a painting in the permanent collection at the Hunterdon County Justice Center

A graduate of du Cret art school, Doris Terris is a signature member of Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, a full member of Garden State Watercolor Society and New Jersey Chapter of American Artist Professional League. She is a long time member of Hunterdon Watercolor Society and is on the board. She has won entry into and awards for various media in professional shows including a Best in Show in a Garden State Members show and three best in show awards in Hunterdon Watercolor shows. Her Paintings and prints are in many private collections including Johnson and Johnson, Visual Radio Inc.,REM Productions, News Electronic Data, Inc., New Jersey League Community and Savings Bankers, Ortho Diagnostics Inc and Mountainside Education Association. She teaches all media art classes at the Senior Center in Flemington, gives demos and has taught watercolor at Somerset Art Association. She also works as a judge for art shows.
