The Hunterdon County Division of Senior Services, established in 1972 by the Board of Chosen Freeholders and the New Jersey Division on Aging, and federally designated as an Area Agency on Aging, is the focal point for elderly residents and the community resource for information, referral, advocacy, and service regarding persons 60 and over.
The mission of Senior Services is to develop and coordinate programs and services which enable Hunterdon County residents 60 and over, especially those in most social or economic need, to remain independently in their own homes as long as possible, and to live in dignity.
The Division of Senior Services, in accordance with the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, regularly assesses need, evaluates and coordinates public and private resources to meet the need, establishes service priorities and program objectives, develops and implements an annual Area Plan of Services and administers and monitors the use of federal, state, and county funds to assure provision of Area Plan services.
Services of the office on Aging are free to Hunterdon County residents 60 and over, and are offered without regard to income handicap, race, sex, creed, or national origin.
