GRANDPARENT EDUCATION SERIES

During the months of April and May, the Division of Senior, Disabilities & Veterans Services presented our first Grandparent Education Series. Four lectures were offered to Hunterdon County residents age 60 and above to facilitate an understanding of the issues that face the youth in our community today. The lecture titles included: Social Media and Its Impact on Youth, Secrets Kids Keep, Lies Kids Tell, Pills to Heroin, and Teen Suicide Prevention. Our speakers are experts in their fields and we are grateful for their participation.

The response to the series was so positive that we plan to create another series with new topics for the Fall. Seniors can be pivotal in the lives of young people. Educating ourselves is an important first step in finding ways to participate in creating a healthier environment for our youth. For suggestions on youth related topics you would like explored, please call Jane Griffith (908) 788-1358. Look for scheduling announcements on the Hunterdon County Website for the next Grandparent/Older Adult Education Series.
