In efforts to get the visits started on time here is a list of rules and regulations for the facility.
The ONLY jewelry allowed in the building at the time of visits is a watch and a wedding band.
The following are not allowed:
- Cellular phones
- Cigarettes, lighters, matches, etc.
- Hats of any kind.
- Necklaces, earrings, bracelets.
- Any and all body jewelry.
- Purses
- Any food or drink
Jackets are to be left on the hooks in the lobby, or kept in your vehicle.
Visitors are to be properly dressed when entering the facility.
Although there is a box in the main lobby which can hold your car keys and any other items in your pockets, the Hunterdon County Jail will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items; Moreover, it is highly encouraged that you leave as much in your vehicle as possible.
Visitors will be subject to walking through a metal detector. They must pass through without setting off the alarm on the metal detector. Visitors will be subject to removing all outer layer clothing, shoes and all items that may be causing the metal detector alarm to sound. The visitor may also be subject to being metal detected by the officer.
Visitors may be denied a visit under the following circumstances:
- the visitor is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- the visitor has no proof of identity.
- the visitor presents a clear danger to the facility.
- the visitor is unruly or disruptive.
- the inmate refuses to see the visitor.
- if the visitor arrives late.
- if the visitor does not passing through the metal detector process
The sign up sheet will be put out approximately 30 min prior to a visit. The visit will be a one hour block. Visitors will be brought in as a group and leave as a group. Under no circumstances will the visits be extended. Visitors are only to visit the inmate one time per day/week. If there are two people visiting the same inmate please only use one line when signing in on the clipboard.
No money or property of any kind will be accepted.
Any visitor caught passing or attempting to pass contraband during a visit shall be denied any further visits. Visitors caught passing contraband shall be subject to immediate arrest by staff and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
No one under the age of 18 may visit the inmate unless they are related to the inmate and accompanied by a person over the age of 18 who is related to the inmate including: mother, father, wife, husband, sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather of the inmate EXCEPT when the only parent/guardian is the inmate.
ALL visitors are to park their cars either on the street or in the parking lot across the street provided for the justice center visitor parking. There is no parking in the jail lot at any time this includes weekends.
Also, please do not stand in front of the door before and after signing in on the clipboard.
